After careful consideration, Toots Thielemans has decided to end his musical career. The 91 years old Belgian harmonica legend doesn’t feel strong enough to play a full concert anymore. He did not want to disappoint his audience and therefore decided to cancel all scheduled concerts.
Thielemans wants to enjoy his well-deserved rest. He can look back at an extremely successful career with many challenge in which his musicality excelled. Thielemans played with the world’s greatest jazz musicians, like Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Charlie Parker, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Billy Joel. He wishes to thank the audience, his fans, organizers and his fellow musicians from all over the world for ‘everything they have given to him’. The musician hopes to be remembered as the regamuffin from Brussel that became a global citizen.
